HEALTHY LIVING AND EDUCATING THE YOUNGER GENERATION

Omar
Here is his story...
I was once told to find what you are passionate about, work hard at it, and dedicate your life to it. “To thine own self be true” was the line I inherited from my professor as the lesson of life, which related to everything I did from professional to personal. I have been fortunate enough to be part of many projects all of which mean a lot to me. Health, nutrition, exercise, coaching, lifestyle, and getting the best out of people is what I love to do.
I believe reaching peak and optimal performance at any level is truly rewarding as life is all about achieving and defying the odds. That is why I chose to leave home to provide a facility in Dubai for the Middle East. I am co-founder of Platform 3 Fitness (www.p3dubai.com) in Dubai Marina, where we use personal training, physiotherapy, and nutrition as three Platforms to encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle. There, we create the right formula by developing programs for each individual personally which ultimately promotes longevity, variety, and sustainability without overcomplicating the matter.
I gained my BSC Degree in Sports and Exercise Science at St Mary's University of Surrey and my Nutrition degree at Steadford University, practiced my craft as a PE Teacher in West London King Fahad Academy, and many other roles helped shape the direction I chose to follow.
During a trip to Thailand, Phuket, I trained Muai Thai and Boxing as a discipline, and it truly opened my eyes to a whole new world of training and living, which I could incorporate into daily life.
When I moved from London to Dubai, it became a place I like to call a home away from home. In my time here, I have coached both women and men's football teams. With strong beliefs in grassroots and educating the youth, I heavily campaigned for healthier school lunches across the UAE schools and created my own Healthy Lunch Box menu. In 2015 I embarked on a project with the U20 Ghana National Football Team as a Physical Trainer in Senegal to compete at the African Nations Cup and qualify for the World Cup 2015 in New Zealand.
For me, building the character within people, self-confidence, and self-belief are huge steps towards a better lifestyle. Motivation is key and at times, we all require someone to believe in us, inspire us, and lay down a foundation for us to build upon. I offer one-on-one training in order to achieve personal results and use innovative methods to great effect. If you are unable to commit to private sessions, there are plenty of other ways you can use my formulas to get on track. You can experience a taste of my training techniques through my monthly editorial workout tips and following my suggestions in the media including Shape, Sport 360, Alpha Magazine, and on my social media platforms.
I recently returned from New Zealand from the Under 20 FIFA World Cup where I was working as a Physical Trainer with the Ghana U20 National Football Team.

Ready. Set. Go.

“Once in a while, it’s good to challenge yourself in a way that’s really daunting.” Since returning to Dubai in January 2020, I have participated in numerous fitness events around the city, mostly in pairs, trios or teams of 4,5,6 athletes ( aside from our internal community weightlifting/powerlifting throwdowns ). Many of these events have challenged me with new formats ( e.g. Hyrox and Primal Race ), movemenents ( e.g. swimming and sled pulls ) and/or equipement ( e.g. the worm and the yoke ). Being part of a team has been a whole lot of fun, and I’ve been so incredibly blessed to team-up with some really good athletes who have pushed me to achieve great things, both in training and in competition. That said, for a little while now, I’ve sort of wondered what it’d be like to compete individually again. Are my body and mind still up for this kind of challenge?   Throughout my time living in Vietnam, from 2017 to 2019, I became fully invested in the sport of CrossFit. I thoroughly enj

The power of a PAUSE

“Don’t underestimate the power of a PAUSE; it allows you to reflect, recharge and refocus.” We live in such a fast pace world. These days, when people ask how we’re doing, we regularly say “I am so busy!” and “I am so tired!” When we are not occupied, we think something is wrong, we feel lazy, and we immediately try to find things to do to fill up our time. We’re constantly looking to move forward; to go, go go and to do, do, do. Why is it so difficult to stop and take a break? For me personally, when I am in ‘work mode’, my routine is pretty consistent; work, gym, eat, sleep, repeat. In the past, I was really hard on myself when I didn’t feel productive and accomplished, but over the last few years, I have really tried to look for and embrace ‘down time’. Now, I am more aware of my needs and my boundaries. I am capable of laying on the couch and watching TV without feeling guilty. I can also turn down weekend plans if I don’t feel like socialising and would prefer to have a restful n

Jack of all trades, master of none

“Sometimes we strive so hard for perfection that we forget that imperfection is happiness.” At a very young age, my parents signed me up for ice skating. They invested lots of money over the years, on skates, outfits, coaches, private lessons, and competitions, and I of course invested lots of time into improving my skills. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, you could find me at the ice rink most days, trying to prepare for my next test, competition or show. Now, I was a decent skater, but realistically, I wasn’t on a path to the Olympics. Once I went off to university, some difficult choices needed to be made, and for some reason, I decided to quit skating and invest more time in my education and career, as well as playing soccer during the summers. For several years after college, soccer became my main sport. Especially when I first moved to Dubai; I played indoor, outdoor, 7 aside, 11 aside, womens leagues and mixed leagues. Some weeks, I was playing 6 consecutive nights,
